Chantelle Cameron aims to break new ground by fighting in three-minute rounds—the same length as men’s bouts—as she pursues a second world title in a different weight class.
Cameron is set to challenge Michaela Kotaskova for the WBO super-welterweight belt at Olympia in London on Sunday, April 5, with the match airing live on Sky Sports.
“We plan for her to compete on three-minute rounds, and we’re confident that will be the case,” said Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, speaking to Sky Sports.

Cameron believes the WBO will back the idea, and she expects the British Boxing Board of Control to be supportive as well. Her goal is to use this bout to make a broader impact in women’s boxing.
“I’m buzzing to be back boxing in the UK, but honestly I’m more excited about the three-minute rounds. I’m ready to perform,” Cameron told Sky Sports.
“I’m doing 10 threes, I’m absolutely ecstatic. I’ve got to make a statement, prove that women can handle three-minute rounds without compromising performance.
“I want to pave the way for other women to follow suit with three-minute rounds. If all goes well, I hope I never go back to two-minute rounds.”
For context, Cameron’s only professional blemish is her rematch defeat to Irish superstar Katie Taylor. The Northampton fighter believes she would have halted Taylor with three-minute rounds, saying Taylor was clinging on during two-minute rounds. Cameron added that the extra time would have favored her and potentially changed the outcome.
However, a potential third clash with Taylor appears unlikely at the moment. Bidarian commented that he wishes a rematch would happen, but acknowledged Taylor may not want that fight at this stage of her career, given her impressive run and current priorities.
