Google is shaking up the search game, and it's all about making your life easier! They're rolling out some seriously smart new features in their AI Mode, and it's going to change how you book things online.
Back in August, Google first dipped its toes into this "agentic AI" world. They started by letting users find restaurant reservations based on what they wanted, like the number of people, the date, time, location, and what kind of food they were in the mood for. For example, you could ask, "Find me dinner reservations for three people this Friday after 6 pm around Logan Square. Craving ramen or bibimbap." The AI would then check different reservation systems to find restaurants that fit the bill, and show you the options.
Now, they're taking it a step further.
On Wednesday, Google announced that AI Mode will help you schedule appointments for wellness and beauty services, as well as snag tickets to events.
Imagine this: you ask, "Find me two cheap tickets for the Shaboozey concert coming up." You want floor tickets, standing room only. AI Mode will then scour various websites to find ticket options that match what you want. It will then present you with a curated list of prices. You can then go directly to the booking page through AI Mode to complete your purchase.
Google is really emphasizing quality and safety. They stated on their Search Labs page that "connecting you with high-quality information you can rely on is our priority in Google Search." They also acknowledge that this is still an early experiment and might make mistakes, but it's built on their core quality and safety systems.
But here's where it gets interesting... Google launched AI Mode back in March to compete with services like Perplexity AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search. Since then, they've been adding more and more features, and it's now available in over 180 countries. For example, AI Mode now has access to a Canvas feature, which allows you to create study schedules and arrange data across several sessions in a side panel. Also, you can now ask questions about what is on your desktop screen using Google Lens.
