Kuwait's Shuwaikh Industrial Area Under Scrutiny: Labor and Safety Checks Intensified
In a proactive move to ensure a safe and regulated work environment, the Public Authority for Manpower in Kuwait has launched a comprehensive inspection campaign in the Shuwaikh Industrial Area. Led by Director General Engineer Rabab Al-Osaimi, the initiative aims to safeguard the rights of both workers and employers.
The campaign, which involved 37 inspectors, resulted in 123 visits to industrial establishments. These inspections covered a wide range of areas, including labor practices, occupational safety, and health standards. The team identified 44 violations, while 79 establishments were found to be in compliance with labor laws and approved safety standards.
A novel aspect of this campaign was the implementation of 123 emergency electronic inspections. These real-time checks, conducted through coordinated field campaigns, issued instant digital notifications to employers via the workforce inspection system. This innovative approach allowed for immediate documentation of violations and ensured swift action.
Director General Al-Osaimi emphasized that this campaign is part of a broader integrated oversight plan. The plan, executed across various regions with specialized inspection teams, aims to verify compliance with labor regulations and approved occupational safety and health standards. The focus is on monitoring establishments' adherence to labor laws, employment relations, and specific health and safety requirements.
The Public Authority for Manpower's commitment to intensifying field inspection campaigns is underscored. This dedication aligns with the authority's role in supporting economic development, stabilizing the labor market, and fostering strong partnerships with the private sector. By doing so, the authority aims to serve the public interest and create a harmonious work environment.
This initiative serves as a reminder of the importance of labor and safety checks in industrial areas. It highlights the authority's proactive approach to addressing potential issues, ensuring that workers' rights are protected, and promoting a safe and stable work environment for all.
