Niger Celebrates UNSC Resolution 2797: A Landmark Decision for Sahara's Future
Rabat, Morocco - Niger expressed its enthusiasm for the United Nations Security Council's (UNSC) recent adoption of Resolution 2797, a significant step towards a lasting resolution to the Sahara dispute. This resolution, according to the country's Foreign Minister, Bakary Yaou Sangaré, endorses Morocco's autonomy plan as a viable and credible foundation for a peaceful settlement.
During his meetings with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the Conference on African Victims of Terrorism in Rabat, December 2-3, Sangaré emphasized the importance of this decision. He stated that the resolution, adopted unanimously, represents a major breakthrough in the region's long-standing conflict, offering a realistic path to stability and self-governance for the Sahara region.
